The approach in 3 phases – theorical presentation, faculty demonstration, and practical work – is similar to basic course. The participants work with fresh cadaver specimens, all tested and with all safety guarantees. The chronology below gives a historical perspective as well as a glimpse into the future of the EFA Annual Meeting locations, hosts and chairs over the years (including links to conference websites, if available). We have come a long way from where we started and today, EFAS represents 28 national societies and around surgeons in Europe.
The value is relative from the top of the land surface to the bottom of each layer respectively (i.e the soil depth for layer 1 goes to 50 mm and the soil depth for layer 2 goes to 1400 mm, and so on). EFAS variable river discharge (dis) is stored as average over the time step of the model (6-hourly or 24-hourly), with time stamp (date and time of end of averaging period) explicit in the GRIB short name. The sum of the surface and sub-surface runoff, and represents all the water that would drain away from the grid box. While both the EFAS Matrix and SWOT Analysis are valuable tools for strategic planning, they have distinct attributes that set them apart.

An email containing the voting link will be sent to the email address used for registration at the commencement of the General Assembly. EFAS v4.8 integrates changes in its meteorological forcing with the use of the new version of the ECMWF-ENS ensemble forecasting system, introduced by IFS cycle 48r1. The error in the computation of the initial conditions of EFAS version 5 forecasts has been corrected. Once the candidate has satisfied the examiners and examination board, a pass and Certificate shall be awarded by EFAS. The format will be a 1 hour multiple choice questionnaire comprising 50 questions with five options.
Past EFAS Congresses
For this episode, Dr. Alessio Bernasconi (Italy) invited Prof. Bedri Karaismailoglu (Turkey) and Dr. Sandeep Patel (India) to discuss their papers about posterior malleolus fractures and their management. These would include Basic Instructional Courses, Cadaver Courses or the Annual Meeting/Advanced Instructional Course. As the examination shall precede the latter subsequent attendance at this meeting may be considered appropriate in occasional circumstances.
h Oswestry Foot & Ankle Course
This type of membership is available for those individuals from outside of Europe with strong interest and commitment to the field of foot and ankle surgery. Individual Global Members enjoy all membership benefits, but are not eligible to vote at the General Assembly or be elected to Council. By becoming a member, you will have unlimited access to exclusive online educational content, including presentations and surgical videos from past courses and much more. EFAS want to create a set up making it possible for one surgeon (visitor) to visit another surgeon (host).
Held in mid to late August each year, the conference is hosted by select universities, financial institutions, and business schools, usually located in Europe. Current research papers and practices in the broad areas of Finance and Management are presented and discussed over several days. The EFA Annual Meeting is preceded by two pre-conference EFA Doctoral Events for PhD students. Enhance your skills, expand your professional network, and gain valuable international experience. Benefit from reduced rates to all EFAS courses and events and meet fellow surgeons.

EFAS variables (called 'parameters’ in ECMWF MARS) are the hydrological entities calculated by the modelling chain. This page describes the model output data (either direct output or processed) available from EFAS and GloFAS. Please see Data Access to obtain the data and Working with CEMS-Flood Data for examples of how to open, extract subsets and visualise the data.
It covers Basic Science applied to the Ankle and Foot, Paediatric, Adult Orthopaedic and Traumatic Foot and Ankle Surgery. In addition, this shall promote educational and scientific research in basic science, paediatric, adult and traumatic foot and ankle surgery. By reinvestment the training of young surgeons interested in pursuing a career in trauma and orthopaedic foot and ankle surgery shall be facilitated. The purpose of this curriculum is to provide a basis for the certification of young trainee trauma and orthopaedic surgeons specialising in foot and ankle management and surgery. CTEV from adult conditions but, again, there is a continuum in to adult life and a basic understanding is invaluable to the adult foot and ankle surgeon treating their subsequent effects. EFAS and GloFAS provide pan-European and global overview maps of flood probabilities up to 15 days in advance (30 days for GloFAS), seasonal streamflow outlooks up to several months ahead, flood impact assessment, as well as flash-flood risk (EFAS only).
Past Specimen Lab Courses
The Board may co-opt additional members, without voting rights, for specific purposes, e.g. in relation to European Conferences on Audiology, or to help liaise with other organizations. The Board shall be responsible for managing the affairs of EFAS according to the general policy decided by the Committee of Representatives, and take initiatives to promote audiology in Europe. These accounts are to be submitted to the Auditors yearly at least one month before the General Assembly.
The forecasts are initialised on the first of each month with a 24-hourly time step, and cover 123 or 215 days, depending on the date it was produced. This dataset provides a gridded modelled time series of river discharge, forced with medium- to sub-seasonal range meteorological reforecasts from GloFAS. This dataset was produced by forcing the LISFLOOD hydrological modelling chain with input from the ECMWF-ENS 11-member ensemble reforecasts.
EFAS soil wetness information is stored as the fraction of the total volume of voids in the root zone. Additionally, the EFAS Matrix and SWOT Analysis differ in their focus on proactive versus reactive strategies. The EFAS Matrix is often used to identify opportunities and threats in the external environment, helping organizations proactively respond to market changes and emerging trends. In contrast, SWOT Analysis is more focused on assessing internal capabilities and external factors, enabling organizations to develop strategies that leverage their strengths and opportunities while mitigating their weaknesses and threats. Another key difference between the two approaches is their level of detail and granularity.
EFAS products
Some of the applications that use soil depth are archived in MARS with the unit meters (m), but this is not the case for LISFLOOD soil depth which is used in EFAS and is measured in millimetres (mm). We specialise in delivering tailor-made training courses to any industry, anywhere in the UK. We have training centres around the country which we use to deliver a variety of courses every month for anyone to come along and learn life saving skills. To that end we organise the structure and content of the EFAS Instructional Courses, normally held three to four times a year at a variety of locations across Europe. We provide a core faculty for these courses but are also committed to working alongside local faculty colleagues. These shall be determined by the examination board in conjunction with the Honorary Treasurer.
Prof. Nicola Quaranta
While the EFAS Matrix provides a structured framework for evaluating external factors, SWOT Analysis offers a more comprehensive assessment of both internal and external factors. By understanding the unique attributes of each approach, organizations can leverage these tools effectively to make informed decisions about their future direction. However, one limitation of the EFAS Matrix is its exclusive focus on external factors. While this can provide valuable insights into the broader business environment, it may overlook internal factors that could also impact a company’s strategic decisions. To address this limitation, organizations may need to complement the EFAS Matrix with other tools that focus on internal factors, such as the SWOT Analysis.
To be accepted, amendments must be approved by the majority of the membership. GENERAL ASSEMBLYThe Committee of Representatives shall meet for General Assembly once per year. The two Non-Voting Representatives from each member may participate in the discussions.
- Volume rate of water flow, including sediments, chemical and biological material, in the river channel averaged over a time step through a cross-section.
- These shall be determined by the examination board in conjunction with the Honorary Treasurer.
- The GFM product is designed to deliver, in near real-time, critical information on ongoing floods events to users worldwide, including national authorities, emergency units, research centres, decision-makers and other stakeholders.

- With a logic driven Assisted Engineer Scheduling board, a simple yet powerful mobile application for engineer’s use and the power and scope of EFACS E/8’s functionality utilised for the back-office, managing your reactive and planned workload has never been easier.
- The EFAS Matrix is often used to identify opportunities and threats in the external environment, helping organizations proactively respond to market changes and emerging trends.
- Additionally, the EFAS Matrix assigns weights to each external factor based on their importance, while the SWOT Analysis does not.
- While this can provide valuable insights into the broader business environment, it may overlook internal factors that could also impact a company’s strategic decisions.
- Our belief is that if students enjoy their first-aid training they will retain this valuable life skill.
EFAS – Known Issues
- EFAS Council and the Certification Board have agreed that it would be appropriate to consider awarding an Honorary Certificate to European Foot and Ankle Surgeons of merit.
- The visitor might want to gain experience in general foot and ankle surgery, if the visitor is young or less experienced.
- If your application meets the membership criteria, the Council will suggest it for full ratification by the General Assembly during annual meeting.
- For more specific information on the how the reforecast dataset is produced we refer to EFAS medium-range forecast skill.
- Supervised by the experienced EFAS faculty, participants of the courses will practice their techniques on cadavers.
- In addition to the names prepared by the search committee, the final ballot can include names which have been agreed upon by the representatives of at least three member national societies.
It is accepted that this condition may not be treated by Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeons throughout Europe. Some water from rainfall, melting snow, or deep in the soil, stays stored in the soil. Otherwise, the water drains away, either over the surface (surface runoff), or under the ground (sub-surface runoff) and the sum of these two is simply called 'runoff’. This parameter is the total amount of water accumulated over a particular time period which depends on the data extracted. The units of runoff are depth in metres.
EFAS Matrix vs. SWOT Analysis
Membership of a Non-European Society accepted for affiliation with EFAS will convey global membership of EFAS to all Individuals of the Affiliated National Society and entitle them to receive the journal of the Society. They can work in the Committees but cannot vote in the General Assembly and cannot be elected to join the Council. The Contract Control module of EFACS E/8 is designed for companies who typically offer a design-to-order service; it provides a powerful system for defining a contract structure.
EFAS may also represent European audiology in international forums and organizations. The purpose of the Education Committee is to provide high quality training to foot and ankle surgeons from across Europe and beyond. Runoff water equivalent (surface and subsurface) represents the sum of the surface and sub-surface runoff, and represents all the water that would drain away from the grid box. This variable is the total amount of water accumulated from the beginning of the time step to the end of the time step. This highly informative educational event will be an academic feast for the young foot and ankle surgeons across UK and Europe. In conclusion, both the EFAS Matrix and SWOT Analysis are valuable tools for strategic planning and analysis.
The EFAS Matrix typically includes factors such as economic conditions, market trends, regulatory changes, and competitive pressures. EFAS 4.2 mainly concerns the addition of new hydrological river discharge stations in relevant layers, wtih additional improvements and general bug fixes. EFAS v5.2 introduces several minor changes to the system, including; Revised Notification criteria for Formal and Informal notifications, updates to station metadata, updated flood protection levels and major rivers layers, and updated documentation on FTP access.
This dataset provides a gridded modelled time series of river discharge forced with seasonal range meteorological reforecasts from GloFAS. This dataset was produced by forcing the LISFLOOD hydrological modelling chain with input from the ECMWF ensemble seasonal forecasting system, SEAS5. For the period of 1981 to 2016 the number of ensemble members is 25, whilst reforecasts produced for 2017 onwards use a 51-member ensemble. Reforecasts are forecasts run over past dates, with those presented here used for producing the seasonal river discharge thresholds. In addition, they provide a suitably long time period against which the skill of the seasonal forecast can be assessed. The reforecasts are initialised monthly and run with 24-hourly time step for 123 days or 215 days, depending on the date it was produced.

Tibialis posterior dysfunction (FDL transfer, Cobb reconstruction and allied procedures), tendon transfers, dislocation of the peroneal tendons – relocation, Tendo Achilles surgery including late repair, decompression and lengthening. LogbookA complete logbook of surgical cases shall be required preferably electronically for ratification by the examination board before proceeding to the examination. The EFAS User Guide is meant to provide information on the European Flood Awareness System (EFAS) and its vast products and services for both the first-time users and those who want to learn more about available services and data.
The European Federation of Autonomic Societies (EFAS) is an umbrella society founded in 1997 in London, UK.EFAS hosts national autonomic societies (NAS), societies not exclusively specialised in autonomic nervous system research and private persons. The aim is to establish a platform for scientists and clinicians with interests in ANS physiology, disorders and treatment. To promote the interdisciplinary communication a congress is organised by another NAS every year.
The aims of the society are to promote the development of foot and ankle surgery and to advance education, study and research in this specialty. This dataset was produced by forcing the LISFLOOD hydrological model at a 1×1 arcminute (for version 5.0 onwards) resolution with ensemble meteorological reforecasts from ECMWF. Reforecasts are forecasts run over past dates and are typically used to assess the skill of a forecast system or to develop tools for statistical error correction of the forecasts. The reforecasts are initialised twice weekly with lead times up to 46 days, at 6-hourly time steps for 20 years. For more specific information on the how the reforecast dataset is produced we refer to EFAS medium-range forecast skill. This dataset was produced by forcing the LISFLOOD hydrological model at a 1×1 arcminute (for version 5.0 onwards) resolution with seasonal meteorological ensemble forecasts.

The factors identified in a SWOT Analysis are often based on the perceptions and judgments of individuals within the organization, which can introduce bias and inaccuracies. To mitigate this limitation, organizations may need to supplement their SWOT Analysis with objective data and external perspectives. EFAS produces 6-hourly flood forecasts (since 2020) and monthly seasonal streamflow outlooks (since 2016). The system has been fully operational as part of the Copernicus Emergency Management Service since 2012. EFAS v5.1 introduces several minor changes to the system, including; Updates to EFAS Hydrological post-processing and increased offering of monitoring and forecast variables.
